Homemade Basil Pesto Recipe

Homemade garden-fresh basil pesto is a simple yet extremely flavorful spread/sauce made from a few fresh ingredients. It takes only minutes to make, and tastes worlds better than store-bought basil pesto because it’s so fresh. With basil straight from the garden, it doesn’t get anymore fresh than this!

This basil pesto recipe is really hard to mess up. All you need is a food processor, basil from your garden, and a few other ingredients. You can also easily double this pesto recipe to make a bigger batch.

Use it on a caprese salad like we did, or in a pasta dish, on pizza, or a sandwich. The possibilities are endless for how you can use your basil pesto.

INGREDIENTS:

2 cups fresh basil leaves

1/3 cup pine nuts

1/3 cup freshly grated or shredded parmesan cheese

3 small cloves garlic (or about a teaspoon minced garlic)

1/3 cup olive oil

1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice (optional)

1/4 teaspoon salt

freshly ground black pepper, to taste

HOW TO MAKE:

Put everything in your food precessor. Pulse this mixture until everything is blended together and relatively smooth. Taste and add more seasoning and any extra herbs/spices if desired. ENJOY!!
